By Chris Eng Had the glue trap in a confined area where the rat would step on it and not be able to turn around. Anyways, I am left with a trap with an outline of it's white/gray fur on it. He obviously learned and hasn't gone near the other one. For, me, this was worthless. If the glue was strong it should have captured it's paws and feet, but it got free. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Cost per catch is high, but it works! By GM Deployed 2 of these and 1 spring mouse trap and 1 spring rat trap in the garage. Caught some insects in the glue. Caught 1 mouse .. scraped/pried him off the trap, and redeployed it. Caught 1 rat .. too much effort to pry him loose .. discarded the glue trap. Spring traps with cheese .. nothing caught yet. Remember, rats learn and are remarkably smart and adept at avoiding traps - witness the negative reviews for various rat traps and electronic rat traps. BTW, the best trap I found is homemade, and popular in some rural areas of Africa. Dig a hole. Put a 5 gallon bucket 2/3 full of water into the hole. Put one stake into the ground on each side of the bucket. Drive a thin round rod through a whole corn on the cob, and anchor the rod to the stakes. Cat used to catch a lot of the moles, but he's getting fat and lazy like me. Tried poisons, but they're expensive and unreliable, and the dogs could end up getting to it. Also, the "repellents" don't work - you want to eradicate them, not scare them into adjacent areas where they'll just come back or dig up your neighbors yard. I used to buy these individually at the hardware store, but if you buy 100 at a time, you can get them for close to a buck apiece. The trick to using them is in technique and vigilance. First, I take them all out of their packages and put the fuses in a plastic bag where they'll stay dry. It's easy to lose the fuses if you don't do this. Cut a piece of 1/2" garden hose about 18" long. Take the sticks and put them in a pail with a lid (an old paint can, powdered laundry detergent box, etc) along with your hose and a narrow hand shovel. Go to a mound, and probe for an opening with the shovel. The fresher the hole the easier. Once you find the opening, make sure it's free of dirt by pushing the hose down into the opening. Otherwise, it may be blocked partway down and the smoke won't get down into the burrow. Light the fuse, wait for the fuse to burn down a little, and shove it into the hole FUSE FIRST, covering it with dirt. You will be able to hear the stick burning even though it's covered. Sometimes you won't be able to find the opening - in that case, just stomp down the dirt to compact it - put a little water on it if you have to - and the moles will push a new hole up overnight to breathe. Once you have things under control, it gets easier. Since moles are active at night, the best time to bomb them is first thing in the morning. Sometimes, the fresh holes are still exposed, so you don't even have to use the shovel. Any fresh dirt that wasn't there the night before is almost a sure kill. In these cases, you don't even need a full stick - you can cut the sticks in half with a PVC pipe cutter, and cut the fuses in half with scissors. If you use a butane lighter, you don't really even need the fuse most of the time, but it's faster if you do. Take an awl and punch a hole for the fuse in the second half of the stick, which will be plenty to nuke a fresh hole - and now you're only paying 50 cents a kill. For infested areas, the key is to stay on top of it. Moles are voracious eaters and diggers, and the more complex their tunnels get, the harder it is to eradicate them since they have more escape routes. Lewis I have used hundreds of Giant Killers in various yards over the last decade, but I can no longer recommend them. I assume Atlas changed their formula because they used to work well, but now they go out, often before they have burned even a third of the way. I have taken to drilling a hole in the end that does not come with a hole, cutting the fuse in half and putting half a fuse in each end so I can light the other end after the first end goes out. Getting them lit now is more difficult because they changed to an ( apparently ) cheaper fuse. The old green fuse worked well, but the new red fuse barely burns at all. Mice were in new home close to woods. We see no reason to kill a mouse for doing what mice do. Set out both traps baited with a smidge of peanut butter and some sunflower seeds. No metal to rust, no machinery to break, simple fulcrum and pivot. Mouse gets in, triggers trap, and in trying to back out latches it even more securely. First mouse caught in 15 minutes (really). Second mouse several days later (we had only seen two, but have reset both traps). Neither trap was damaged in any way. The second one had likely been occupied for at least several hours, but no gnawing, no damage. Mice easy to set free, traps easy to wash, dry and reset. Cheap, and worked well and humanely. People noticed the traps I had before. These are easy to hide and nobody even knows what they are! I ordered with Final Blox because my exterminator said they were the best. The Final Blox fit well but seem a little small for the compartment. Comes with a key so pets and kids can't easily access it. If you have a large dog it could probably eventually chew through (like just about anything they can chew). I've stuck these in the back of kitchen cabinets, closets, and in my basements. You can wedge them just about anywhere the little buggers want to go and keep them out of sight. I haven't seen any critters running around. 6 was the perfect amount for my home and the price was right. For anyone that's trapped rodents before, you know you don't need a big fancy trap. I've only maybe once or twice seen another cockroach. At the time I didn't have a mouse problem but a couple of months ago I saw a tiny mouse in my studio apartment so I quickly bought another repeller (one for the kitchen, one for the bedroom). By FLeA I tried six other kinds of traps including the basic traps, victory traps, glue traps, etc. I think this is by and far the best engineered and most effective trap out there. Victor Rat Trap are made from FSC ceritfied wood. The snap wire part of the Victor Rat Trap is strong enough to break your finger. Rats are naturally curious so if you place a piece of bait on top of the plastic triggering which is a lot more sensitive than metals ones it will trap your rodent at that point. When placing the trap make sure its perpendicular to the wall, so that the trigger end is towards the wall on the hard surface.

Please save your money; it does not work. I still have mice, one of whom I saw run over the packet of Mouse Magic that I had put out. You could almost hear him laugh! One star because they smell good, but DOES NOT WORK! By B. Babb We had mice invading the house last winter (2007-2008 season) and nothing was working to encourage the guys to pack up and move. Due to the quantity of pets we have, we wanted something that wouldn't harm the dogs if they contacted it (so Decon and snap traps were out). We received these and placed them around according to the package instructions. We had no decline in mice populations in the house. In the end we ultimately had to resort to snap traps baited with caramel candy. These got one star because they smell like spearmint gum when initially opened, but the smell fades within a day and then you have a cloth packet that does nothing. 8 of 10 people found the following review helpful. But, I have to say, this unit, the Rodar II, totally got the job done. I'm impressed. I had a squirrel problem in my attic, and this one pesky bugger just loved waking me up on early weekend mornings. The day I placed the Rodar II in my attic was the last day I ever heard of Mr. Squirrel. He left for the much quieter neighbor's house. Like it says here, the unit is practically silent. You can faintly here a very very light clicking, but in my attic, it's all but forgotten. I just leave it plugged in up there all the time, and now I can get some needed extra sleep on weekends. The unit itself is small. For some reason, I had gotten the idea that it was much larger in the pictures here, but that's likely because there's nothing to reference it's scale to. Excellent Product By Chris Goodman I was skeptical as well having used different units of this type over the past many years. This is without a doubt the only ultrasonic product I've ever used that actually works. We've had this unit installed in the attic for 3 weeks now and no more squirrels. In fact the squirrels left the attic very quickly (within an hour it appeared) and have stayed away. The bait-blocks come eight to a pack, and are about the size and shape of ice-cubes. They have a bluish-green color (teal, to be exact), and a texture similar to a firm cookie. They do crumble if you squeeze them. They have a pleasant smell, vaguely like a macaroon cookie. This means that it's all but certain that kids and dogs will eat them. They MUST be placed out of their reach! The rats love these. One rat will eat an entire cube single-handed and come back for more. A useful tip. Put a dish of water out for a few days prior to the poison. The rats get thirsty as they die, and this helps to bring their "remains" to a predictable location for disposal. High Good old sunny Florida turns into a giant swamp during rainy season. All critters great and small crawl out of the wetlands and become general nuisances outside the house, especially during the evening. This includes mice and rats looking for food. We weren't aware of this problem until our 2 big dogs tried to tear the front end off our Prius($1,610 in damage). Since then I put this bait outside our fence so that the dogs wouldn't get into it. Obviously this has slowed the rats down enough to provide great sport to our dogs--until they simply disappeared. The Easy Set is a VAST improvement over older types of Havahart traps; use is as simple as it gets! This 1082 trap catches the chipmunks that dig in my deck planters. Using unsalted peanuts and a handful of bird seed (sunflower), the trap started doing its job the first day. I also have a larger, older version that catches squirrels. I plan to replace the older version with another Easy Set, as both the set up, and more importantly the release, are a snap. By dareing Country living demands d-con as the mice move into my nice warm home for their winter... but D-con to the rescue... It works every time.... First few days out and it disseappears very quickly..... the mice eat this stuff up... then after a few days it just sits there .... so no more mice. I tried spring-traps (dangerous!), and the electronic zappers. These are effective too, but they lose their effectiveness as the rats learn to fear them. The d-Con works great. Two useful tips: First, put out a small dish of water for a few days prior to using the poison. The rats get thirsty as they die and the water brings their "remains" to a predictable location away from pets, and kids. Second, allow for undiscovered remains and their smell Choose a site with some ventilation. It should be noted that while I got most of my rats, they have learned to fear the poison. The small square containers have peel-off foil lids that are easy to use -- just peel them back to remove, and set the little plastic tray filled with blue nuggets on the floor or on a shelf in strategic places where there is evidence of mouse activity. The mice seem to like the taste of the blue nuggets, and eat it heartily. They keep coming back for more, but after a few days they die. I had more mice than I realized. I thought there were two, but there ended up being six. Be sure to place the poison in places where you are certain your pets will not go so that they will not ingest the poison. I put one behind the bread box on the kitchen counter, because there were signs that mice were going behind the bread box to defecate Also, on the fireplace mantle where there were signs of mice activity; on a floor in a corner behind a livingroom chair, and on the second floor in an area beside a TV stand where I saw a mouse hide. My very old cat never goes into the places where I placed the trays. I picked up a dead mouse on the basement stairs one morning, and found others in other places over time and disposed of them. I even got suckered into buying that mouse attractant gel this company sells. They eat it; but it doesn't set off the trap. I moved to a farm that had a horrible mouse problem (which I did not realize until after he had signed the papers). I cleaned the droppings were all over the kitchen, and to my surprise they were everywhere the next day! I typed in "mouse bug" in google and the site of the good life came first. I bought one unit for cooking, clean up after new, never seen so much of a 'spot' again! My parents were very poor ants in your home in your kitchen and bathroom. I took my last AT home and plugged in the corridor between the two areas. Within 24 hours their ants were gone, but my mother would not give the AT back to me, so I had to go buy another. =) Now I use my Ultimate AT out in my garage of my new home, and it really helps keep the mice and spiders at bay One day I noticed a large spider web out in the garage, I was so upset... I looked up and realized that someone had unplugged my AT (the landlord had been there earlier doing yard work and he needed the outlets). Ireland Clean cheap and efficient with a stylish design that puts the cute in execute. This engine of rodent revenge gives you endless options to display your mastery over these soldiers of the devil. The trap is easy to bait and holds these egotistical little vermin in a grip that, if no action is taken, will slowly squeeze the squeek out of them and send a message to their fellow gangsters. Look at the action shot I placed under the product image above. The tiny bait door is cleverly placed so that you can open it and look the little monsters eye to eye and they will know who THE MAN is. The delayed death feature gives you other options for execution if you want to get revenge and further demonstrate your domination. With a small bucket you can waterboard them and the trap is microwave safe but be sure to use the lowest power setting to avoid mouse detonation. This is not clear in the directions This is a great little trap and so much fun. OK OK this is satire. The point is that the trap doesn't kill mice so you have two choices. Easy to use for the squeamish By E. Freedman The trap I used to find at local home improvement stores (a see-saw type box that rests on a pivot point--the mouse travels to the far end to get the bait, tipping the box and shutting the door) is no longer around. So I tried this. Easier to set than my previous traps. It has a bait door that simply pops open and a push lever that sets the trap inside. I use peanut butter. The closed box seems quite sanitary, and as Ortho claims, blends into the surroundings rather unobtrusively. The side with the lever has easy to read indicators--"set", "mouse caught" and "reset"--that can be read from a distance if you don't want to get too close And the trap has a little handle to pick it up for disposal (without getting anywhere near the mouse inside). This is advertised as a "kill and contain" trap--a rather conventional plastic snap lever nicely concealed inside a plastic sleeve (sanitizing the experience of killing a mouse). I can't vouch for the claims that some make, but some have said if the mouse is small enough, this trap will simply catch it inside (and not kill it), so as to make it possible to release the mouse into the wild. This trap isn't designed or marketed for catch and release (after all, it does have a spring mechanism), but I assume it can be used that way (provided the mouse doesn't experience too much trauma). My only complaint is that as the field mouse I caught was so small (and yes, it caught my mouse the first night I set it out), that the side lever incorrectly read "reset" rather than "mouse caught" Looking inside, I could see the mouse's tail. Nonetheless, this trap gets the job done. Release into the wild or dispose of as you like. As with all traps, your mouse may or may not be dead inside, so how humane on the scale this trap falls is really your call. BUT, (and this is a fully robust, strong, and passionate "BUT") it does not work. I bought one here on Amazon.com to use in a very small basement room (4ft x 5ft) and I put them all around the room . and all the mice did was poop on them. They didn't eat through the bag like it said it was supposed to -online. It definitely doesn't say it on the box. I threw them away because they were just sitting there, Ueless! My property is located in the Sonoran Desert, home to a large population of rats chewing wires packs, isolation at home and tear up things in general. South-west has some "of bubonic plague and Hantavirus from time to time, too. I tried to throw the bait in rat holes, but the attacks continued. Finally, about 3 years ago, I surrounded the house and stables with 4 bait stations Tomcat keeps pets secure and protect the toxin from the elements. Within 2 weeks I noticed a sign on rats dramatically reduced. After a few weeks, the mice were completely gone. I'm just filling bait stations about once a year. They are convinced the bait station is key. It is much safer, too. I was so impressed with the first one I bought, I bought two more. One of them stopped working after about 3 kills. I've tried everything suggested to get it to work. If nothing worked, I contacted AgirZap. They asked me to send it, so they could inspect. She sent me a letter saying that my warranty was invalid due to water damage, but I could buy a refurbished unit at a discounted price if one was available. I loved the Zapper in their case a Rat's Nest plastic so it was protected from water, so I do not think the water was the problem. It is an expensive product and they must be replaced. Now I'm out the money you paid for it plus the cost of shipping back to them. Horrible! I suggest buying a similar product at Home Depot. I would love to give this trap a 5* rating because setting it is soooo much safer than the Victor brand traditional traps. The design looks and feels like "a better rat trap" but has the one drawback that I get a lot more sprung traps without any victim than I do with the Victor traps. By the way I have no affiliation with Victor at all. I just like to kill rats. Talking of Victor, they make two types (that I know of) - a traditional one with a small metal bait holder, which scares the Sh*t out of me when I set them, but is as good as it gets w.r.t. dead vermin. They newer and safer ones have a large yellow paddle which is easier to set (nothing like as easy as the Big Snap-E trap though) and are still effective. The older type still has the 'hairier' trigger though... Bait - I've used dried apricots, peanut butter and gummiworms all to good effect I'm told fruit gums work well, but my local store only had worms. Didn't make much difference to the momentarily happy rat I caught last week. ;-) Cheese is quite poor. I also had one of the Big-E traps break - in the 'trip' mechanism. I have to confess I didn't bother to find out how their customer service is - it's a $5 trap after all - but it's a shame it broke. I have over 50 rap traps of different designs around my property and in my garage and attic. This trap is the best because, 1. made of a good plastic and the bugs and fungus don't eat it up like the wood ones do when used outdoors 2. easy to set and remove the rat 3. It catches rats 4. it is well made and is reliable not like a Victor of the same design 5. There is another design that snaps like an alligator but doesn't work to well and breaks easy I catch as many as 35 to 40 rats in a typical year. I tie a brick onto the trap so bigger animals and possums don't get into them and walk off with my trap. Scott Collins I researched and purchased these traps after seeing them used by an expensive animal control company to deal with a flying squirrel problem in the eaves of a cabin. I live a mere mile from the national park boundary of the Great Smoky Mountain nat.park in a log cabin. We get animal visitors and invasions ranging from squirrels & raccoons to grown black bears and coyotes coming right up on the back deck. The particular challenge was removing a large colony of southern flying squirrels which previously unknown to me are incredibly fast and agile as well as the amazing ability to run up walls and upside down across ceilings with no regard to gravity These animals had nested deep in the roof structure and were keeping my family up at night with noisy squeaking and loud nocturnal scampering that was especially loud in back bedrooms only feet above beds. Upon locating the entry and exit holes that were soffet/eave vents on the underside of a roof, the problem arose of how to get a conventional trap close enough to attract and do the job without other animals getting caught by mistake. Enter the Snap-E rat trap. These small squirrels are not much bigger then a large rat. I was pleased to see that the manufacturer designed mounting holes so that these traps can be mounted upside down in areas that only this species of squirrel could reach. Shake Away is the best I've found so far worked IwinYouwin of this product if you use it, if no rain forecast in the immediate. I use it to keep rabbits away from my flower garden. You must be patient when using it because it does not work properly. Perhaps the granules have dissolved slowly? Anyway, I bought Shake Away in a local shop and could not find him where all the next time I needed it and did not want to try another brand because they are all pretty expensive and in the past, other brands have less than satisfactory was the result. Not all the work by Bruce Kennett I read all the reviews for this product and similar units PestContro before I bought it, and saw a variety of results. Why were not positive, I decided to risk buying. In my experience, this is a complete waste of money. A few days later he was on, I was still catching mice with conventional spring traps. The last time there was no sign, so I thought maybe it was working. But last night I had a ripe pear on the counter, but FOUR PAWS II PestContro in the kitchen, and a little mouse in the peer. As far as I am afraid this is completely useless, and I wish I could get my money back.
