We have tried all kinds of traps with no luck. We bought the Victor Electronic trap from our local hardware store. This Takeda four C batteries and will last approximately 12 to 20 rats. During the first 24 hours we had caught four rats. Two days later we caught a total of six rats. We paid $ 40.00 plus $ 5.00 for batteries and it's worth every penny. No tables for cleaning, simply give a little shake and the rat falls into the trash. Best mousetrap ever. 43 of 43 people found the following review helpful. Works directly for all but the smartest rats (which probably escaped from a research laboratory) by LML Wilson has had great success with this product for over 5 years. Average size of the dead rat is 8 inches, with the exception of the tail. Also slain many mice. Have used different combinations of bait, incl. Manufacturer's suggested peanut butter (not so good) to lure the kitten dry food (more or less effective) and a breakfast combo of aged Cheddar cheese bits + walnuts + kitten dry food + fat (total irrisistible) On efficient procedures and to kill rats / mice : (1) Put bait in the trap at the end of the trap (where the metal end w / holes), while the metal plate on the bottom of the cabinet clean and without any bait. (2) Set the trap along a "run", usually parallel to the baseboard. (3) scatter a small bait outside the trap to act in front of the entrance to the rat-trap to trap. (4)! Do not switch the trap bait a few days! so the rat does not this new food source is safe for them. Be generous with the bait of those first few days. (5) On the third day, as usual bait the trap, insert it into the exact position as before, and flick the case of the switch to "On." Voila ... should be your first electric shock dead rat / mouse next morning. You know this because the little green light flashes at the top of the case on and off or you see the rat tail coming out of the trap, turn the switch to "Off". (Disposable nitrile gloves are best) while wearing gloves, remove the trap with the rat in there yet, open your bin, pull out the dead rat from the trap into the trash. Simple, clean, no mess, no smell Carrion. In my rural area of Northern California for its agriculture and organic grass-fed beef is known, I recycle electric shock rats. Dig a hole two feet deep in one area of my garden, the dog can not go on, bury the rat shock, lay some bricks / stones, heavy on the grave care of small rodents and natural rest. Recyle. Good for the planet, good for the earth. 36 of 36 customers found this review helpful. These work well to stop work at Randolph Steer The three stars reflects 5 stars for effectiveness when they work and a star as working time (approximately 6-12 mice before the break) I bought one of these traps for mice After this is happened with Victor mousetraps small opening mail. (The small opening was apparently SUS [picious mouse - If I never signed a mouse * I * did not get into one of these two.!) The large opening in the mousetrap made it seem harmless to mice, and we started catch the mouse frequently. Unfortunately, after 6-8 mouse stopped charging the device, even with new batteries. I sent a complaint to Victor, and they were nice enough to make a mistake and send me a new unit, which killed the mice remained few. After a break in the problems of the mouse, we began to come back, and I highlighted the new replacement units. After catching a half dozen or thereabouts mouse has also stopped working. (It seems to load, but the mice seem to be able to walk and eat the bait without being killed) So basically you have to think of it as "disposable" after every 6-12 mice, they say.
