By Billie I foolishly believed what some of the others had said about this product.They had said they dodn't work. I had several that were sprung so I got them back out of the trash and looked in them and saw nothing, so I reset them. 2 days later the room I had put them in smelled terrible! And another trap had sprung in another room. I tried to rest the trap but it wouldn't reset. I saw nothing so I pried the trap up some and there was a mouse in it! You cannot see them even with a flashlight looking in the hole! I went and got the other 2 traps and threw them away and the smell is gone! These traps do work! And are true to there word! Difficult to know when it's working properly, but SAFER FOR KIDS By P. Kingsriter The concept of this trap is a good one: A spin-trap that envelopes the mouse so you don't have to see/touch the little beast after it's dead. The execution (pardon the pun) leaves something to be desired. I've purchased more than one set of these and the results have varied. I've found that they're very touchy, are difficult to set properly, then they misfire frequently. This makes the "results indicator" difficult to trust. Mice are so light that it's difficult to feel whether or not something is in the trap. I examined one that showed "Mouse Caught" and there was no trace of a mouse. No mouse, no hair, possibly some poop, but my peanut butter was gone. We have caught a few mice with these, but since they're more expensive and not as reliable as the old standard snap-traps, I would recommend you stick with them... If you're really squeamish about dead mice, this might be at least a starting point for getting rid of a few. Just be prepared to throw a good number away and not be sure if you're throwing away an empty trap. Wayne I bought my first Pesticator from Global Instruments about 18 months ago. I purchased it in a hardware store out of desperation. We live in a country setting and mice were getting into our 2100 square foot ranch style house. The only one who liked that was our cat who was killing two to three per week. I have tried the acoustic mice repellers that emit high frequency audio pulses and they did not seem to do anything for my problem. Once I plugged the Pesticator into an AC outlet, within three days all mice were gone and I have not seen one or heard one during the last year and a half. The Pesticator that I just purchased was a gift for our son and daughter-in-law. They had mice getting into their garage and between their cats and traps, were killing about one per day. Since using the Pesticator, they had some activity for two days (As stated in the product literature) and nothing since. This product really works. Shaw My story is this: Got some mice in the house at the start of the winter. Little poops all over, chewed cereal bars in the closet/cupboard, mice in the trash can etc. Laid out traps and caught four of them but still had: little poops all over, chewed cereal bars in the closet/cupboard, mice in the trash can etc. So I brought two of these units. At first I put them both in the basement where I had actually seen the little critters (I have a pretty big house) and I didn't see any evidence of them in the basement after two days or so but upstairs it was still: little poops all over, chewed cereal bars in the closet/cupboard, mice in the trash can etc. So I moved the "pest repellers" upstairs and put all my food items in plastic containers. I saw some evidence of a mouse in the trash the first morning but since then, nothing. I don't know if it was me storing the food better, the pest repellers or both but I have seen nothing. I have been moving these things around the house every other day or so and they seem to work for me. I would give the unit five stars but they do have one draw back, they do make noise. If you expect these things to be quiet your in trouble, they chirp. It's not too loud and doesn't bother our dog or us but it does make noise. Makes annoying chirping noise By Mark The repeller works fine at repelling, but when on the "rodent" setting it makes an audible chirping noise that's annoying so it can be used only in remote locations where people don't normally go. I had cleaned up all egg casings that I could find and vacuumed all visible webs the first of September. Since plugging this little devil in two weeks ago, I have not seen any new webs or crawling spiders within an eight foot range of its location against the inside wall. Garden spiders still crawl across the farthest outside screen, but our problem with dozens of webs against the inside wall near the sliding doors has been eliminated. Instructions state that some species will adapt to the ultrasonic range and may take up new residence. So far, that has not happened. I am very pleased with this piece of technology. Williams A few day ago Amazon had this item for sale and called it an Bell and Howell UltraSonic Solar Animal Repeller. I ordered two of them. When I rec'd the items I immediately noticed that there was nothing Solar about these items as they require 4 AA batteries in each unit even though the Production description indicates "It's weatherproof and solar powered." It may be weatherproof but certainly not solar powered. The Product Description says "Weatherproof Garden Stake Included Rear mounting bracket- screws included to place on tree or fence." Neither the garden stake or the rear mounting bracket screws," were included. I'm pleased to see that Amazon has changed the product description for this item. I was given the option to return the items for a refund. However I had to return the items within 5 days. I decided to see it they work as advertised. Obviously 5 days is not enough time to determine whether this animal repeller works. I guess I could borrow a dog from a neighbor and see what happen when I lure the dog into the garden. BTW when the items were rec'd there was no packing slip or return information included with the shipment. Partlow III I have an occasional mouse problem due to... well, I better not say what I BELIEVE is the cause (don't know who might be reading this). Anyway, something happens to make 1-3 mice invade my space every couple of weeks. It is aggravating and gross and hearing their chewing in the night drives me nuts. Desperation ensues. Enter Jaguar Bait chunk. This is a pack of 8, shot gun shell sized logs made of what looks like sunflower seeds and wax. I put 3 of these in strategic locations (near where I thought they were entering my home). About a half an hour later I am sure I heard them chewing on one of the logs. An hour after that I heard the satisfying sounds of a mouse screaming and flopping around as if convulsing (a couple minutes of this and then blissful silence). The poison contains an ingredient that prevents the filthy demons from absorbing moisture, therefore in the end they desiccate or mummify as they die and there is no smell. If you don't have small children or pets and you're like me or Catnip and you "hate meeses to pieces" then you could do worse than buy some of this product. 0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Cabell I used this product to eliminate a rat problem in the crawlspace of a friend's house. The results weren't instant -- it took around 10 days before there was no more evidence of activity. Access to the space was closed off, so, presumably, the only activity was due to one or more animals already there when openings were blocked. I ended up placing six packets of bait, one every couple of days, before the last packet was left only partly consumed. The bait station consisted of an old glass instant coffee jar laid on its side. Normally, this wouldn't be considered safe, but since the location of the bait station was where neither children nor pets could go, it worked satisfactorily. Because this product causes the rodents to drop dead in random locations, I wouldn't recommend using it in occupied dwellings, as they can die in wall cavities, remote corners of the attic, and other inaccessible locations, causing a stench until the carcass has decayed. Works great with multiple units in large studio By Serious Mouse Hater We had a nightmare of a mouse problem that sprung up seemingly overnite. We tried all kinds of traps and the mice could not be tricked. We finally decided to try these things, although I thought they seemed like a total crock. Well, we placed 4 of them throughout our 700 square foot studio apartment and that night we heard some intense chewing - we had just filled all of the holes in our walls and so I assume it was a mouse trying to chew its way out - and ever since that night we have had no more mouse problems. Mahanna In a new home location in the country we had no moles for the first year or so and then when our grass took hold they started tearing up the yard really bad. Since we have two acres it would be too expensive to put down grub killer. Tried pellets, and traps and also the worms. Traps did no good, pellets I dont' know for sure. The worms did work but are expensive and require a lot of attention. Finally since we have had such good luck with the Pestacator for mice and have used them for about8 years I tried the outdoor one for moles and other pests. I have one location on the north side of the house that has beautiful grass and they proceeded to tear it up with runs all over the place. I put the stake in, and after a heavy rain I took the John Deere and proceeded to flatten the runs back down. I haven't had a mole there since and that was well over a month ago. It claims that it charges in 45 seconds, which is true, but then you only get about 40 seconds of playtime out of it before you have to recharge it. It worked on our carpet (but we have a short, dense carpet- not plush). It was irritating to get the little moudse everytime when my cat was just starting to be interested. In general they will not drive off established mice concentrations, but are effective in keeping mice from becoming established. I have experienced the same result. With apologies to Lennie By Indifferent Knievel We live in the great wilderness known as Connecticut and have some very clever mice who, despite my best efforts, manage to find their way into our home every winter. I finally got sick of risking digits every time I needed to set a mouse trap (although I miss the rush, I need to use a keyboard every day at the office). The next step was to get a cat, but happily I found these first since I hate cats. In contrast to the wooden devices first introduced in early 12th century Europe, these traps are extremely easy to bait, set and place. You have to try really hard to hurt yourself with one of these -- in fact, I don't think it's possible. The entire design is very clever and the product photo on amazon doesn't do them justice. Gets clever mice By J-Bag In my garage I currently have 4 of these babies, 6 of the Victor brand and 4 of a different brand - all similar style (quick-set, easy disposal). The intruder traps outperform the others by orders of magnitude! It was not uncommon to check the traps in the morning and find 4 dead mice in the intruders and none of the others even snapped! I only bought the other traps because I could not find the intruder mouse traps at our local stores any more. I think our mice are just too clever for the other traps. The intruder traps are truly hair-trigger and really work. Occasionally I'll find one snapped without a mouse. Make sure you tie a string to them. By Jake LaForet I bought an old farm that is miles from proper civilization and wildlife can gallivant around with impunity. The 150 year old farmhouse is a stone throw from the barn and stables, which offers an attractive invitation to small furry quadrupeds of the rodent variety. Why spend your nights shivering in the barn or in the fields when there's a warm, dry house nearby? A house of food and water, and ample nooks to build a new nest? The logic of the argument is sound, and mice, being mathematically logical creatures, decided to move in. First it was the tell-tale evidence of droppings along the sink and counters. Then my bag of loose-leaf tea imported from England was targeted, causing the highly-caffeinated mice to poop in more inventive places and in mind-boggling ways. Then came the mid-night scurrings in the walls beside my bed. That settled it. I purchased the Intruder Better Mouse Trap and loaded them with peanut butter. The trigger mechanism is light - I snapped them numerous times while handling the traps. But don't fear: you won't break any bones if your digit is clamped. I tell you this from experience. The trap doesn't crush the mice as much as it suffocates the little blighters. One the very first night I had the traps in place I caught a mouse. Several days later another one bit it, and since then I have had no further mouse problems. Releasing the dead mouse is simple - you just pinch the ends of the trap and PLOP the mouse falls into the trash. There's no "ick" factor because the mice are not crushed like other traps might. The process is simple, clean, and obviously works well. I still have the traps set in various places in my house, in case a new batch of mice decide to move in. Meeting your house guests face to face By Samuel Chell [Note: This is a good trap but pricey, especially when you're trapped into purchasing two plus postage. Simply enter the words "repeater mouse trap" in the Amazon general search box, and you'll find the same trap (renamed) available from another dealer for eight bucks. Wish I'd seen it first.] When my wife grew so impatient with my live-trapping attempts that she brought home a couple of those D-Con tilt-a-whirl rides-of-death disposables, I became determined to increase my efficiency to save the creatures. The green house and tip traps worked but erratically, catching one mouse at a time and breaking after several weeks use. And the metal Havahart trap practically requires the skills of a sapper (bomb defuser) to set the wires--too steep a learning curve, time-consuming, inconvenient (though it may be the "one" for experienced or patient trappers). Enter the Victor Tin Cat. Nothing to set up. The directions even claimed bait is unnecessary (they're right--though I seem to catch fewer without it). I put peanut butter on a cracker, and the next morning saw 4 pairs of big eyes staring back at me. Moreover, unlike some of the other live traps, this one leaves the critters dry and comfortable, not drenched with perspiration and half-dead. Consequently, the tricky part of transferring them to a holding tank (from which many of them used to escape) before deporting them is unnecessary. Simply leave them in the trap (it makes a nice temporary home). Both of my traps came coated with a slightly sticky lubricant. No big deal. Just to warn you it's not in your head. Also, one minor drawback of the trap is that it has two little "hideaways," and the new inhabitants quickly adapt to their fairly cozy digs, making it difficult to evict the tenants when it's time. After opening the top lid, I give them a minute or so to make their break for freedom, then turn the trap upside down and tap it, and am finally reduced to pulling the tail of the last hold-out or two (they'll still resist by grabbing tightly with their front paws). Perhaps a reason professional exterminators prefer a device like the Havahart. What bugs me about the heavily advertised D-Con system is the emphasis on the human never having to view the animal. Simply spread some peanut butter on the bottom at night and throw it away--trap, contents, and all--in the morning. Now that's what I call the ultimate "denial of death." (And what a profit-maker for D-Con.) I put these all over my house after seeing mice and so far, have never caught a single thing. They didn't even catch any bugs. So I switched to the sticky white sheets and the mice would get on them, but the glue seemed irregular in places and often they'd get off too. They do however, work far better than the black ones. We put these glue boards under couches, beds, and other dark places. We have caught several scorpions and other bugs. We also caught a mouse. Be careful where you put them, if you get one on your shoe or hand they are hard to remove, sticky-sticky-sticky. I rate this product very good. Agresti Catch-master Peanut Butter Scented Glue Board To use a glue board, simply peel off the plastic film, and put in place. The glue is extremely sticky, so handle it with care. We have a small storage building that crickets love and these glue boards catch those critters by the dozens. We replace the full boards every couple of months in warm weather. Use scissors to make smaller glue boards before removing the plastic film. One note of caution though; if you have a curious pet and they get stuck to this thing, they will make a ruckus trying to get free. One board we left outside overnight had feathers on it the next day, so these things can be harmful to birds. You also wouldn't want to use them where children might touch them. The peanut butter smell isn't too noticeable with one glue board, but the open box of boards stunk so bad, I bought a waterproof plastic box to store them in. Victor Rat Trap M200 are made with FSC certified wood. The original wood-based wire snap trap with the metal bait pedal. Place sticky bait (i.d. peanut butter) inside the curl found at the end of the bait pedal. Place the traps perpendicular to the wall, so that the trigger end is towards the wall on a hard surface. The key in trap is to place them in an area with a lot of activity, areas where you see a lot of droppings, urine stains, rub marks, etc. No matter which trap you use make sure you have as many as possible out, making the traps seem like part of the atmosphere will bring lots of good results. One the tricks you could try is to make rodents friendly with these traps, placing unset traps out for about a week with bait on it then setting the trap later will increase your opportunities. Suggestion is not to have it on surfaces that may have machinery that vibrates for this could set off the trap. Also please do becareful when using around children or pest the snap is very strong and could break a finger.

I also use Provoke attractant gel with excellent results though most are caught passing through the trap when it is set perpendicular to a vertical surface. I have trapped at least 30 in less than a month. 1 or 2 of those mice were with a mini-rex trap (I think I have 5 of these traps). The last one only had its leg caught. So I had to put him in a plastic bag and gas him with my truck tailpipe. My mice definitely seem to avoid the trap no matter what it is baited with. I think they are scared of it. I mean the jaws actually look like a mouth with teeth. I guess mice aren't *that* stupid. They are not going to try to steal food from the inside of something's mouth. It definitely looks cool to us, but I am guessing that the ridges look too much like teeth and scare the mice away. I also have a rat zapper ultra, which is mainly good for trap shy mice since it doesn't look like a trap to them. It's difficult to clean without breaking it and it is just much more cumbersome to use than snap traps and maybe only a little bit more humane. So far about 97% of my mice have been caught with the kness snap-e traps.Snap-E Mouse Trap I bought 24 of those and I think I am going to buy more. They are great and quite reusable. and i haven't had a single mice succesfully steal food from one. If they go for the bait they are dead. Period. Eventually the strangulation bars do get bent though. Mccracken I have tried just about everything for the eradication of voles in my yard with little success until I found out about Just One Bite from a neighbor of mine. I live adjacent to farm fields and voles seem to swarm in, finding my yard a great place to live. They burrow into the ground, surfacing later to devour grass and make tunnels around the yard. I have tried poison grain, traps and other bait with little success. But this stuff works wonders! I have found that the best application procedure is to cut a small portion of bait from the chunk supplied from the manufacturer and drop it down the hole; wait a couple of days, then fill in the hole with dirt. If any vole should survive, it will dig its way out and make itself known. I then reapply another dose and repeat the procedure. I suspect the reason some voles survive is because there may be more than one in the hole and the bait may have been eaten by others--or perhaps I may have missed baiting the hole with so many around. Voles seem to love the corn-based composition of this bait, and the poison supplied therein quickly seems to do the job! Smaller packages of this product can be found in farm supply stores. A lot of them were mixed, but I wanted to give it a try (it's always better to avoid traps, if possible). So here are my observations: 1) The sound is audibly annoying for humans (not good). We typically plug it in at night in the kitchen so that we don't hear it in our bedroom. 2) We had it on for a week while on while vacation and it failed to repel a mouse which had found its way though a wool steel sealed hole (which also doesn't work according to my experience - mice may not be able to gnaw it, but are able to pull it apart). 3) So what actually did the job was my second line of defense: a good quality mouse trap. I highly recommend Agri Zap RZU001 Rat Zapper Ultration. I bought it just in case because it kills the mouse by electrocuting it so you don't have to mess with blood or look at the casualty. And, this purchase was well worth the money. So, don't bother with the ultrasonic repellers and spend some time insulating your walls or buy a good trap. I hope this helps. Curtis The Snap E rat traps are not as sensitive as the standard wooden rat traps manufactured by Victor. So a small rat can eat the bait without springing the trap. However, you can re-bait the trap, and generally catch the rat the second time around. And the Snap E traps are SO MUCH EASIER to set than the wooden Victor traps. The wooden traps are really scary. They are so sensitive they usually snap closed with a bang several times before I can get them set. So on balance, I vote for the Snap E traps. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. I gave one trap to a neighbor and set the remaining 5 using peanut butter for bait. We caught rats in all six traps the first nite and had varying degrees of success for the next week. I was delighted. Then I discovered I was unable to set one of the traps because the plastic latch that holds the trap in the set position had worn smooth. Watch out fingers!! The same thing happened to two more traps leaving me with 3 working traps. They're a great idea, much easier and safer to set than the old wooden ones, and they catch rats.
